James E. Swalm – Jr., Senior Minister

Pastor Jamie received Jesus Christ as his Savior while a freshman at the University of Delaware and graduated with a business degree in 1988. After marrying Cathy, they moved to Baltimore where Pastor Jamie pursued a career in finance working for a large bank. After approximately a year, sensing God’s calling into the ministry, the couple moved to Philadelphia where Jamie attended Westminster Theological Seminary and Cathy taught in a local Christian school. He graduated in 1994 with a Masters in Divinity degree. Upon graduating from seminary, the family moved to Newark, Delaware, where Pastor Jamie became an assistant and later an associate pastor of the Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church. Over the next five years he held a variety of ministry positions including working with youth, young adults, small groups and church planting.

In 1997, Pastor Jamie began working with four core families in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, who wanted to become a church plant of the Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church. Soon after, New Covenant Church began and Pastor Jamie relocated to Rehoboth with his family to become the organizing pastor.

In November, 2001, having successfully organized New Covenant as a church, Pastor Jamie sensed God’s calling to Red Lion Evangelical Free Church and returned to Bear, Delaware, to serve as the Senior Pastor. Presently he and Cathy reside in Bear with their four children.
